Have you heard the Good News?
Please take a moment to think about how you would answer the following question: Do you know where you will spend eternity, after you die?
There are only two options;
- in the eternal presence of God in heaven.
- in eternal separation from God in the lake of fire.
Most people believe they are going to heaven because they believe in God, they attend mass, go to a temple, or some other form of worship service. Or they try to live a “good” life according to their own standards.
But these people only hope that they will make it to heaven, they do not know. The Bible teaches that you can know that you have eternal life.
We often see the word “Gospel” in relation to the Christian faith. The word gospel simply means the GOOD NEWS!
The Good News message is the one true answer to the problem that all of us have. We are separated from God, because of our sins.
Because we are all sinners, you, me, and all who have been born in the normal way since Adam, we all sense the guilt of sin and the emptiness of life, and we have a certain fear of death.
This fear of death, is ever present in our lives and becomes bondage to us. We wonder what comes after death and we fear it, not knowing if we will be judged worthy of heaven or not.
But because God loves each of us, and in spite of our sin and rebellion against Him, He sent His own Son to die in our place and make a way (bridging the gap) so we can be forgiven, cleansed and know Him in a personal relationship.
It is God’s love for us that moves Him to send His own Son to save us by taking our punishment upon Himself on the Cross, so we can be saved and live with God forever in Heaven. We must sincerely repent of sin, and believe in the sacrifice of Messiah and we will be saved.
“Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.” (1 Corinthians 15:1–4)
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
